History / Overview
Pure Carbon Asia (PCA) was founded in 2009, as a joint collaboration between Pore Carbon AG (a Swiss based platform for the deployment of renewable energy technologies), Natural Power (a Thai based developer of biogas technology ), and Asia Green Capital (a Singapore based financial boutique focusing on the renewable energy sector).
The ambition of PCA is to become the leading developer and operator of renewable energy projects in Southeast Asia, through the deployment of integrated low-carbon solutions and environmental technologies:
- Through its subsidiary Natural Power International (NPI), PCA is among the leading biogas project developer in Southeast Asia. Natural Power International and its Managing Director, Mr. Weerapan Kiatpakdee have developed over 30 biogas projects in Thailand, and are currently expanding into other Southeast Asian countries (e.g. Malaysia and Indonesia) offering an additional multi-fold market potential. The company focuses on treating waste from agricultural processing plants such as palm oil mills, tapioca starch factories and pig farms.
- Through Pure Carbon Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PCM) based in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Pure Natural Power Co. Ltd (PNP) based in Chiang Mai (Thailand), PCA focuses on selective emission projects (i.e. under the Clean Development Mechanism) which have sound underlying economics and attractive sustainable returns. To date, the group has developed over 4 carbon emission reduction projects, with first carbon revenues expected in 2010
- Through its Singapore-based shareholder Asia Green Capital and its shareholders in Europe, PCA has high-level relationships with investors and compliance buyers, enabling PCA to provide project finance which facilitates the roll-out of environmental technologies.
